Resource Review: Australian Homeschooling Summit 2020

homeschool resources review May 27, 2020

From May 4th to May 15th 2020, I participated in the Australian Homeschooling Summit.  I presented a workshop during Week One about our family's 25 year home education journey.

I've also had the pleasure of enjoying other workshops and bonus sessions by Aussie home educators Lusi Austin, Kelly George, April Jermey, Andrew Lord, Karen Willson, Erin Hassett & her graduate homeschoolers, and Heidi Conway.  And there are at least a dozen I hope to watch or listen to in the coming weeks!  Even though I have six home ed graduates myself, there is so much of value in these workshops for me as a parent as I embark on this journey (again) with 4 year old Zeah.

The Summit was run mostly through a Facebook group, where there were Live presentations and watch parties, as well as a lot of bonus materials, opportunities to network, and Q&A with the presenters.  Workshops were also accessible directly via the Australian Homeschooling Summit website live, and now all of the audio and video files, as well as all the downloads are available on that site for attendees to retrieve forever.  I'm really happy that the workshops are now available as mp3 (audio) files, because I can listen to these while I cook, clean, garden and drive!  I find it much more difficult to carve out time to watch video presentations.

For me, that's the unique value of the Australian Homeschooling Summits - the fact that we can login at any time, forever, and access those workshops and resources when they are most relevant to us (or we need a bit of a pick-me-up during any home educating challenges.  The 2019 and 2017 Summits are also available on the site - in all HOURS of Australian content covering a huge variety of topics.

The current price for Australian Homeschooling Summit 2020 is still only AUD$25 for all 30 workshops and the bonus sessions.  That's about the price of one book, but for me, it's been about 100 times more valuable, already.

I'm off to listen to Tamara Kidd share some tips on organisation, because I'm always up for ideas on making the most of my valuable time!
